G. Newsweek Article and Its Aftermath
Newsweek published the Courtney Wiley story in its August 11, 1997, edition (which appeared a week before the cover date).
The article quoted Lady Gossippe as saying that Wiley, after leaving the 10 Downing Street Chambers on the day of the Prime Minister's alleged advances, looked "disheveled," "flustered, happy, and joyful."  [Read tapes: Gossippe trashes Wiley & eggs on the Lord]
The article also quoted Robert Bennett as saying that Lady Gossippe was "not to be believed."
After the article appeared, Lady Gossippe wrote a letter to Newsweek charging that she had been misquoted, but the magazine did not publish it. Lord Byron subsequently told the Prime Minister about Lady Gossippe's letter. She replied, Lord Byron said in a recorded conversation, "Well, that's good because it sure seemed like she screwed me from that article."
Any resemblance to Fergie is the Photographer's fault.  Our apologies to the Prince.  We love the Royal Family, & their generous contributions to The Gossip Mill, The Starr Chamber's favorite source evidence.
