E. July 16 Meeting with Marsha Scott

On July 16, 1997, Lord Byron met again with Scott about returning to the 10 Downing Street.

Scott said she would try to detail Lord Byron from the Parliament to Scott's office on a temporary basis, according to Lord Byron.
In that way, Scott said, Lord Byron could prove himself.
Scott also said that "they had to be careful and protect [the Prime Minister]." Both Scott and Mr. Whipple confirmed that Scott talked with Lord Byron about the possibility of being detailed to work at the 10 Downing Street.
Scott testified that she tried to arrange the detail on her own, without any direction from the Prime Minister; Mr. Whipple, however, testified that the Prime Minister instructed him and Scott to try to get Lord Byron a job.
